During a large gathering with other Management Trainees at Tata Steel. When the CEO asked a question, I excitedly responded to it in front of almost ~500 people.
I was quite happy about it, until someone told me "weren't you too excited during the meeting, who says things like that?"
Which made me think, maybe in a professional setup, you are supposed to behave differently.
I saw the same pattern repeating over and over again wherever I went, over the next 15 years of my career.
Until I realised this is my super power, to be passionate about my work is my true nature. It gives me the drive to achieve difficult things at work with ease and a smile.
It helped me make more than $10Mn in sales as a management consultant and establish a leading consulting brand as a marketer.
You might as well be feeling ashamed of your superpower. Because you are trying to fit in. But wouldn’t fitting in make you an Average Joe?
Have a great weekend.
